My Background

Hi, I’m Will!  I am currently completing my clinical internship hours to have a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.  I spent nine years as a science teacher where I realized that I was burning out and needing a change.  One clue that helped steer me into the therapy field was that the part of teaching that I loved most was having one on one conversations with kids and teenagers during and after class. Helping students reflect and uncover their strengths and motivation while working compassionately with them to build their social and emotional skills gave me a lot of meaning in my life.  I was also a wilderness guide, wilderness therapy guide, and am a life coach, all of which have given me additional experience working with people to awaken parts of themselves that have enriched their lives.  Having had struggles with my mental health in the past, I have been able to heal from my own mindfulness and therapy work which I am able to use to help others in my life now.

I am very outdoorsy!  I love rock climbing, surfing, backpacking, and playing soccer.  I was able to live in Bulgaria and Morocco when teaching internationally and I believe that exploration even locally and finding new passions are helpful for mental health.  My goals when working with you are to learn your identity and story, accept you fully, and use my counseling training to support you on your path to reducing your suffering, while building on your goals as well as your self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-love.
